After three days of talent fair, we wanted to ask students about their expectations from the fair and what benefits did they derive on coming here? The long queues outside almost every booth signalled that the students were anticipating this moment since the announcement of talent forum, a month ago. Ladislas Domange, a 4th year BBA student, believes that such events on campus provide them with exposure to the culture of their dream companies and possible ways to land an opportunity with them.
While Sergio Galis from Colombia pursuing Masters expected that handing over his CV to companies visiting would land him an interview with HR. But he was informed by the companies he visited, that, his interaction with them establishes the first point of contact; he can understand company’s culture, curating his CV and add industry jargon in his cover letter to make a better impression in screening rounds. At the same time, he would have to apply via the career portal and the company website to be considered for different roles.
On Day 3, companies from luxury, hospitality, FMCG and retail sectors kept the students in the hall engaged and on their toes yearning to learn more. Students also need to keep a track of seminars conducted by the companies. Careers team arranged for an alternate room to accommodate students once space the designated room was completely taken. But the sound system and video set up in the alternate room needs to be improved to give students the same experience vis-a-vis the main room and keep them hooked.
Students have a lot of options on day 4 for industries coming from transport, manufacturing and energy sectors to overwhelm them with different profiles. Even for day 5 when only law firms would take the centre stage, students can expect to join them not only in legal capacity but also in their finance and technology departments. So don’t hold yourself back so early because those who persevere are the ones who succeed.
