Last Sunday, February 9th, the IE women’s football team won their first game this semester. The team has a new coach, Pablo, and he has changed the composition of players, trying out new dynamics. The final score of the game was 2-1.
When the whistle blew, the women started the game with strength, motivation and a strong mindset. The squad was almost complete, and this gave them a lot of confidence. Before the end of the first half, the opponent scored their first and only goal. But this didn’t discourage the IE team. They started the second half more determined than before, focusing all energy for the sake of all the hard work and commitment they have been putting in this season. They were not going to give up nor put an easy fight. By the end of the second half, Hugrun scored the first goal. A few minutes later, she scored the second and winning goal. Called Icelandic beast by her teammates, Hugrun only recently joined the team and her presence is noticed.
This game was by far, one of the best games the IE team played this season. All members were motivated, determined and ready to fight. Like the last game, they kept cheering each other on, expressing their concerns and sharing their opinion.
The IE team is still working on having team events as often as possible to keep their bond as strong as ever, this is their true asset. The more games they play together, the better the relationships grow; relationships based on trust and cooperation.
