Madrid is a magical city that offers unique experiences, art and culture, culinary savorings, and outdoor escapes. It is the perfect season to explore the city and have out-of-the-ordinary afternoons. The streets are quieter; the fresh windy air and the subside of the crowds set the setting for a perfect autumn day. Here’s my list of must-do fall activities in Madrid that should be on your radar this season.

The approximate duration of this activity is about one hour and 45 minutes, and the prices range from 8-24€ depending on the model and size. Keep in mind consumptions are charged separately It’s a great alternative way to disconnect from the world, immerse yourself in a whole new experience, and connect with your artsy side, especially in autumn. You get to socialize with your friends in a new and unique way.

Nucha coffee art

Nucha is a place, mainly for the people who love coffee and art. It is an excellent activity to do with friends or if you want to have a good time. It’s a small and comforting place where you can reserve to ensure you have a place. The maximum duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes, during which they give you the necessary materials to paint, and if you’re not done, you can finish it at home. The food is of excellent quality and is reasonably priced. Its located in Calle de Don Ramón de la Cruz, 50, Salamanca, Madrid. It’s a relaxing and comforting space where clients can enjoy their coffee and find artistic inspiration. It’s the perfect time to immerse yourself in art while having a good cup of coffee, especially since the cold weather is coming!

Harry Potter: The Exhibition

For Wizarding World fans, this magical experience is a fantastic way to spend a different afternoon. What better time to reconnect with and experience this magical world than in October? 

September through December are peak Harry Potter Months. This exhibition offers a fully interactive experience with fantastic film props, authentic character costumes, and recreated scenes and settings. It’s open from October 4 until January 2025, so plan a visit!

Cultural Must-Dos

Suma Flamenca 2024

Every year, between the end of October and the beginning of November, a festival dedicated entirely to flamenco music takes place in Madrid. This year, it offers 45 shows, from October 15 to November 3, in Teatros del Canal, with prices ranging from 9 € to 25 €. It’s the perfect season to go and immerse yourself in Madrid’s rich culture. Suma Flamenco has become an internationally renowned event that brings together the most outstanding figures of today’s flamenco. The shows include the presentation of guitar artists on stage, dance performances, and singing. And why go during autumn? The International Day of Flamenco is every November 16, so attend the unique Thai festival. This isn’t just a dance and music production—it’s an immersive experience of Spain’s history and identity through its beautiful artistic expression.

Letters from Columbus. America in La Casa de Alba

For the ones interested in history and museums, this is the perfect place to go. This is the first to explore the American heritage of the Fundación Casa de Alba collection. It is located in Liria Palace and is open from Monday to Sunday, but be sure to go before January 26 since it’s a special event. The exhibition presents 24 autographed letters from Christopher Columbus to the “Nobiliario de Indias.” It explores the relationship between Casa de Alba and America through its historical-artistic heritage. It’s the perfect season to fill yourself with cultural knowledge, with unique pieces like letters, paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and viceregal art from the American heritage of the Casa de Alb. These are added works of art from more than 15 prestigious museums and institutions.

Madrid craft week

This event occurs twice a year, during spring and autumn in Madrid. The Madrid Craft Week fair brings together a selection of essential traders and artisans from Madrid around an intense program of activities that highlights the work of craftsmen and women and the social value of this beautiful art.

It is an event worth attending due to the various creations on display, ranging from handmade fashion pieces to decorative pieces and even gastronomy. The most exciting part of the event is the workshops that usually deal with various topics and natural talents in the sector. The calendar of workshops can include card making, metal embossing, embroidery, pottery, or others, depending on the schedule. Its locations change from place to place. It is best to watch the Madrid Craft Week website for details. Exhibitions and talks are usually accessible with limited seating. Hands-on workshops can cost between €40 and €60 per participant.

Experiencing the change of colors in Madrid’s most famous park is essential. Even though Retiro Park is a primary tourist attraction, it’s a must in autumn. Not only is the park a beautiful place for a picnic, a run or a walk, or a way to disconnect from the busy city, but it also contains many activities within the park.

The Music Kiosk in the Retiro frequently hosts autumn concerts featuring classical, jazz, and other musical genres. Enjoying music amidst nature is an unparalleled experience.
