Last Sunday, the women’s team started the eighth game of the season with confidence. After a successful Christmas dinner and a secret Santa gift exchange, the relationship between the team members was stronger than ever. However, the final result of that game was 4-0, and the IE team lost.
Since the beginning of this season, the team has been accumulating losses to the point that it might have started to feel normal to lose. Unfortunately, losing does not trigger anger anymore. It has become a habit. According to the coach, the problem from our last game was the lack of communication between the players, especially when defending. Nevertheless, communication is something the women can work on, training after training. It is true that these players have only been playing together for three months now, and that training has faced some attendance issues but this does not justify the slope of losses.
In two weeks, on Sunday, December 15th, the IE team will play its last game before Christmas break. This will also be Emma’s last game, an Australian exchange student that joined the team in September and was elected player of the month of October. Her presence on the field, according to her teammates, will definitely be missed. The next game is also Ethan’s last game, an exchange student from the United-Kingdom who assisted the coach during the beginning of the season and highly contributed to the individual and collective improvement of the team. The IE team has two weeks and four trainings to get ready for the next game, and hopefully, may end the season with a win.
