Last week, the university’s management team and BIR office revealed that all language classes next semester will take place only once a week for third-year students, for a grand total of 15 sessions per semester. The management team, content with the idea of slicing our linguistic progress in half, argues that they are “freeing up time” for us to focus on other things. Not only is the premise of that statement flawed, but it fails to consider the repercussions of the change.
On April 24, the IE Foundation celebrated its Opening of IE Arts and Humanities Week. The event revolves around the foundation’s focus on art, and the event is doing so through collaboration with artists from the Festival Urbano de Arte Digital de Madrid (MMMAD). The Foundation invited a panel of three different artists to come and talk.
On April 25, IE University had the privilege of hosting Michael Sandel, a renowned American political philosopher and professor of government theory at Harvard Law School. The dean of IE Law School, Soledad Atienza, opened the conference. She explained that the school´s main goal is to form legal practitioners that represent law values such as justice and the rule of law.
So it is not for lack of trying or that events are not student-centered - they are. It’s that students just don't see the value in attending. But why is that?

Following the government's decision to halt EU membership negotiations until 2028, Georgia has seen a rise in protests and political unrest in recent weeks. At nationwide rallies in Tbilisi, thousands of Georgians have taken to the streets to demand democratic reforms and renewed commitment to the EU. Georgia's long history of protecting its stability, and sovereignty, and efforts to strengthen its links with the West are highlighted by the government's efforts to handle this crisis.
